HoʻoNani Day Center of Waimea celebrated 15 years of providing high-quality adult day care to the North Hawai‘i community last month.
The mayor provided an appreciative message to HoʻoNani’s owner, Karyn Clay, acknowledging the very welcome respite and trusted services that the facility has provided as a vendor of the County’s Office of Aging since its founding.
“What started as a simple home at the end of a dirt lane has developed into two, well-established adult care services in two homes that serve as the essence of home for those needing assistance in their later years,” said Clay. “I’m honored to provide an extended ‘ohana for so many of our community members and look forward to serving our community for many years to come.
She continued, “When I first opened, many people had no idea as to what adult day care was. Now, many share their personal experiences with similar services as soon as I tell them what it is that I do. Adult day care has come a long way in 15 years!”
