Care Home Caregiver ~ joined our team in 2017
My name is Awilda. I was born in New Jersey but I was raised in Puerto Rico. I went to school in 1980 in Aguadilla P.R. to study to become a Nurse Practitioner. I returned to New Jersey and lived there for about 18 years. My husband became sick with a type of muscular paralysis and the cold weather made it worse, so we moved back to Puerto Rico and I gave him the care he needed and thanks to God, he made a full recovery. I then decided to go back to school in 2013 to obtain an Associates degree in Nursing from Universal Tech College in Puerto Rico. I graduated and passed my board test in 2015. I then started home care for seniors with Parkinson’s and Dementia.
After I left for Florida in pursuit of advancing my career path, one thing led to another and I ended up in Hawaii with my oldest son and his family. While spending time with my grandkids, a wonderful, blessed opportunity came my way. Mrs. Karyn Clay accepted me into the Ho‘oNani ‘ohana and I found my place. A magical gem with wonderful people. My job became my career and I am blessed every day that I work here in the Adult Care Home here at Ho‘oNani.
